Tanya & Jack ~Married~ 8.23.08

Tanya and Jack Parks, married last weekend August 23rd! Here's a nice sassy shot to start out with! August must have been my month for aqua, as this was the third wedding this month with that color! I'm not complaining, as this is of course my favorite color! Tanya not only had her girls in aqua, but her dress also was detailed in aqua, which was incredible! This was the first time I have seen this dress using the aqua as the detail color, I was loving it, and all her details.

I must say I was a bit "worried" about Tanya and Jack's wedding, as it was a beach wedding and scheduled for 1:30 in the afternoon, not a good time for a photographer to be out in the open sun on the beach with no shade! I was stressing so much about it, that I kept praying for an overcast day...well, I must have prayed a little too hard, because not only did we get overcast, we got rain..........most of the day. Woops! Well at least I didn't have to worry about the sun~! We had to get a little creative during the beach pictures as it kept raining off and on, but at least we made it through the ceremony and family pictures before it started, and at least we had a makeshift tent as a partial cover. I was actually able to get a few creative shots because of the tent, so it wasn't all bad!

Here are some shots from throughout the day, hope you remember your wedding day fondly, rain and all!

A classic shot I try to get at every reception!

Jack dancing with his mom....

Tanya had the whole beach theme going for her decor, wait until you see the cake!

Reception at Tullymore! That's the second opportunity I've had this month to go out there, it's a fabulous place with tons of picture opportunities, and the rain actually was almost "done" by the time we got there, so that was a good thing, and provided some nice soft lighting.

Jack and Tanya's first dance...

These pillars were very nice to work with, and I love how her dress fans out with the aqua accent....

Some of these images of course have special coloring effects on them, which I very much like, but they also look awesome in full color...

The flowers were also beautiful, and I loved the unique color of putting orange and white roses with aqua, I've never seen that color combination done before, and it worked very well...

The grounds are gorgeous here...

This was my favorite part of the reception, way cute!!!!!!!

Jack and Tanya decided to go with tan suits rather than black tuxes, I thought it was very complimentary, especially for a beach wedding.....

The guys look great!

I can't help but love this color effect with the aqua and orange accents... you may see it a few times...

Hey Jack!

Tanya, can you tell I really like these shots of you??

Out in the rain...

Here's where we had to use some creativity under the tent to catch a few shots while waiting for moments of no rain...

The tent actually made for a great silhouette, and somehow, although the lightbulb was "in my way" I kind of like it in this image!

Reception details.....

Old school effect...

Just married.....

A very cozy hug from dad...

Jack and his mom.....

Getting ready details.....

The ceremony, right out on the beach, no rain yet!

The rings were in a little pink purse, everyone laughed!

I love this candid shot of dad getting ready...

Getting boutineers on.....

A very stoic shot of Jack....

Tanya and Jack had a special gift to give to Tanya's dad and stepmom, who were also celebrating their ( I believe) 25th wedding anniversary. Below , is an image of them enjoying a slideshow presentation put together in their honor.

This groomsmen, was a wonderful help all day with my reflector, and at times we had to use it as an umbrella!

The pavement, still wet from the rain, adds a bit of depth and reflection to the image, to all of my brides who worry about rain, it can be a good thing in small amounts!!

The pillared entrance to Tullymore, made a good shot for my wide angled lens...

Tanya and her best friend Kim, there is something about this shot I like, posed but yet somehow candid...

I hated to see that adorable cake cut up!!

I wonder what the guy in the background right is talking about, good use of hand gestures...?

A nicely posed wedding party!
They had a heck uv a nice limo, it was ivory, very sharp........

Tanya's ring even had blue accents.....

While I was taking shots of Tanya and Jack, I looked over to see the wedding party waiting patiently and all lined up so nicely........
The ladies were very good sports about standing in virtual rain and then running back to the tent, and then back out to grab a few more in partial rain, then running back................

This is one of my own favorite angles, but it's the color here that pops! Blue's look good on everybody!

That's some good winkin' guys!

If you look closely at this image, (zoomed in), you can see large streaks of rain right in front of their faces! Fortunately this image was taken from afar!

Right after this shot, we gave up, getting too wet!
Fortunately we got these before the rain wouldn't let up...the sand was still mostly dry.......!

Guys just don't know how to pucker!!!!

As you can see, in between the rain, we still managed to have a little fun!

I played with texture on this image...

Tanya didn't necessarily want to do this shot, but I couldn't resist, I love these shots, everyone looks happy and candid!

Rather than running toward me, they were walking, I am on the ground looking up....

More of the same, with different sorts of coloring effects. When I give my clients their DVD containing ALL wedding images taken from the day, they get both the full color image, AND the special effect image as well, for all of those images that I did special effects on...such as this one.
I love this shot of Tanya, very candid, right after they were pronounced man and wife...

Family pictures, thank goodness it wasn't raining yet!!!

Brotherly love...... AWW.....

Love the aqua purse, I just want one...

There's that little pink purse again, I think the best man was holding it for safekeeping the rings...

Aqua splendor......

The KISS!! (They even did it twice!)
Signing the license.........

A nice intimate ceremony........

Final touches...

And one more favorite detail shot.....
Tanya and Jack, thank you again and Congratulations! I hope the rain didn't spoil your wedding day, actually in the end, I think it was to our advantage!! Loved your wedding!

Tanya & Jack Parks Preview Coming Soon!!

Tanya and Jack Parks ~ August 23, 2008

Look for their preview gallery to be posted within the next few days!

Hope you are enjoying your honeymoon!

~Mike & Kristi Taylor~ 8.22.08

This past weekend I had two weddings yet again! First on Friday was Kristi and Mike's outdoor wedding, which came out perfectly, no worries about rain. This first shot is actually Kristi and her dad posing for a shot. The ceremony was held at the zoo's outdoor pavilion which Kristi and her friend had decorated beautifully. The reception was held at McFadden's right dowtown on the third floor, the first time I have been up there for a reception, it was awesome! Congratulations, and enjoy your preview!

We started out at the GRF with pictures of Kristi and her family in front of the river. Kristi had blue hydrangeas in her bouquet, one of my favorite flowers, beautiful!

The teenagers refused to blow Kristi a kiss...go figure!?

We had one of those perfect skies, I adore clouds, as a photographer because they provide better lighting, and because I just love the drama they add to the sky! This is one of my favorite shots of Mike and Kristi from the entire day!

Kristi's dress was gorgeous...

This is Kristi's grandmother, I loved her red purse, red shoes, and red jacket, how cute is she?

The processional down the sidewalk with our little ringbearer...

This is one of the prettiest cake stands I have seen... not to mention the cake itself is beautiful...

First dance...

Mike and his mother dancing...

I never realized what a cool building McFadden's is! I love the color of the brick and the detail in the architecture...

Kristi had the upstairs decorated with so much detail...

Green was the color of the day...

Someone's wiping away a tear! Awe...

The bridge looks even more dramatic when the sky is really blue!

Hi Mike!

Excellent job from this young lady...

My flash didn't go off on this one, so it ended up being a cool silhouette of Kristi entering the pavillion with her dad...

The Vows...

The Three Ladies...

Can you tell I like the detail stuff?

Awesome idea, I haven't seen this done before, the place cards in their own little grassy field!

The whole wedding party!

Each table had their own little cake! Makes it a LOT harder to resist!

I think this is the most enthusiasm I got out of the boys all day! (I mean the younger generation here...)

That's pretty serious guys...

The young man on the left didn't like me, I was trying to make him smile, he wasn't going for it!

This sarcastic grin was all I could get out of him! I guess I'll have to take it...

Keep those boys in line dad...

I'm so glad Kristi and Mike had a beautiful day! Best Wishes!!!!!!!!

~Jessica & Mike Brown~ August 16, 2008!!!

Mike and Jessica, here is your preview gallery finally! They were married in Traverse City on August 16th. My husband and I were able to make a whole weekend out of it, and had an awesome time, kind of a mini-and much needed vacation after a very busy nonstop wedding season! There were so many awesome locations we could have spent time at shooting, I only wish we had more time. My favorite spot was the vineyard, there was an entire trail of them, and I can't remember all the names, although my husband and I hit everyone of them on Sunday after the wedding. We also did a few shots at Mission Point Lighthouse, and on the docks in front of all the boats. The reception was held at the Hagerty Center, which was also incredible. Here are some random images taken from throughout the day!!

Starting backwards here, is Mike dancing with his mom at the reception.

And starting from the end of the day again, is Dunne' giving an awesome toast to the newly married Mike and Jessica. Dunne' is one of my previous brides from 2006 and I cannot believe it's been two years already!! Jessica was a bridesmaid in her wedding!

This was taken behind the Hagerty Center in front of the Lake...

I love this ship in the background...

I don't normally post a lot of "altar" pictures, but I do still take all of the traditional and a bit more "formal" altar style pictures. There are a few posted from the wedding, Jessica had her altar decorated so nicely with all of her details and colors (of course she chose my favorite color aqua).

The decorations were incredible, AQUA everywhere!!

Announced into the reception!

This is a silhouette of the ship behind the Hagerty center as the sun was going down, through the glass of the window...

A wedding gift from Mike to his bride right before the ceremony, Mike got one too!

Through the vineyards...

I wonder what type of wine these are being grown for?

The girls in all of their aqua splendor!

This was one of the most gorgeous vinyards we attended, I believe it was the Chateau Chantal, however after visiting seven different locations on Sunday, I'm having a little trouble remembering!

This is our groom Mike, who was very cooperative on the wedding day!! Mike is a former goalie who played for Ferris State Bulldogs for four years. Mike is from Alberta Canada, and they are moving to Calgary after the wedding.

Dad walking his daughter down the aisle...

Jessica had one of the most gorgeous gowns I've ever seen... Actually this picture does not do it justice!

The beading and embellishments were beautiful!

Jessica had so many beautiful details, I think it took me 30 minutes just to photograph everything when she was getting ready!

What a great view from the condo!!

On the docks...

This little princess is getting her crown on!!

Getting all pretty at the salon!

Another little princess putting her own crown on!

Fun wedding party dance!

What a perfect view!

Even the gifts were decorated in aqua!!

Talk about detail, even the bottom of her shoes were decked out!

I absolutely love these type of candle lights at ceremonies, just beautiful.

The Kiss!!

We also did pictures at Mission Point Lighthouse, this was a great spot as well!

Congratulations , and best wishes to you both as you start your new life together in Canada! We had a fabulous time in Traverse City documenting your day and checking out Traverse City, thanks again!!

Kelly & Jaime Schmidbauer 8.09.08

Okay, so I'm a little behind on the blogging again, what's new! I am finally getting up a small preview for Kelly and Jaime, married on the 9th just a couple of weeks ago. These are definitely not in any order, but are random images from throughout the day.

Their reception was held at English Hills on 4 mile, right on my side of town!!

The Dress of course...

Kelly wouldn't let Jaime see her until she tapped him on the shoulder, I love this expression on her face...

Out in Ada, the bridge of course...

I haven't seen red all year, it was nice to see it again!

I'll take this over the limo!

This is probably my favorite shot of the whole day, very "fifties"!! (Or is it sixties? I wasn't born yet)

The guy on the left didn't have his glasses, so.... those would be mine! Way cute on you...

Whose idea was this?

This guy wanted to be in ALL the pictures!

That's all for now! Thank you again for having me capture your wedding day, it was perfect!

~Sara~

Sara and I had a rockin' session tonight, starting at the studio and then on to Grand Haven. Her and her mom were way fun to work with, and Sara was very into "that look", loved it! These are just a mere handful of images from the session, wow do I have a lot of images to look through!!

Wow, great eyes!

Sara these are definitely some of my favs!!

Just wait until you see the rest!!

Weddings, Weddings and More Weddings!!!

Jessica & Mike Brown ~ Married this weekend in Traverse City!! Mike and Jessica had an incredible wedding this weekend, August 16th! I spent the entire weekend up there photographing their wedding on Saturday, and checking out the wine trail on Sunday! The vineyards were gorgeous, and I wish we had more time to spend shooting at them on Saturday, but like most wedding days, there is only so much time in the day. We had many other spots to visit as well. Look for more of their preview to come in a few days, I am right smack in the middle of a very busy August right now and there are so many pictures to go through! In the meantime a big congratulations to Mike and Jessica, and thank you so much for having us up there!

Also a huge congratulations to Jaime and Kelly Schmidbauer who were also married on August 9th last weekend, whose preview I am still working on, (thanks for your patience)! Wow, did I have fun with these pictures! They had a Shelby mustang to escort them around on their wedding day, and it was awesome! I love Kelly's red flowers against the blue of the car. We had a beautiful day here in Grand Rapids and did pictures out at Ada Bridge. I hope to have the rest of the preview up toward the latter part of this week, before another full weekend of weddings! Gotta love wedding season! Congratulations Jaime and Kelly!

Ashley & Mike Newlyweds!! 8*8*08

Ashley and Mike were my 8*8*08 couple on Friday! They had a very fun, relaxed beautiful wedding at a friends home in Sand Lake right on the Lake. The weather was perfect, and we had so much fun. We went around the lake on this pontoon (spelling?) right after the ceremony, and my assitant and I got to come as well. After their ride around the lake, they were announced to their reception right off the boat!

The cake being set up with it's orange and pink flowers, love that combination of color!

Ashley and Mike!

Ashley being escorted by dad down their outside aisle...

The ceremony took place under a white tent right out in the yard, decked out with lights and all.

This sign was absolutely huge! They had one on the boat as well!

Just threw the bouquet...

Where's the garter Mike?

The whole gang!

These guys look like trouble... Nice smiles though,...

Love the shoes ladies...

Mike with his mom and dad...

Waving at the boat as we approach...

Those flowers are really you Mike!

Finishing touches...

Just as I was leaving around 10:00 pm, they started fireworks which was a surprise for Mike and Ashley, as it was for me! I ran down the hill to try to capture a few!

This is a beautiful shot of Ashley taken by my assistant Adam, doesn't she look like a porcelain doll?

You go girls!!

Ashley dancing with her father...

Celebrating after the ceremony on the boat...

Just before seeing her groom...

Wedding bells and all...!

Family portraits... Ashley with her dad.

Ashley and her mom...

Happy wedding planning, and hope you enjoy your preview!

Joel & Kara Ebbers ~ 8.02.08 ~

Well this is not Kara and Joel, but these are Kara's parents, and Kara and Joel were not the only one's kissing at their reception! They played the kissing game and lots of couples were doing a lot of kissing in the name of Kara and Joel! This wedding was on Saturday the 2nd, and we had a really nice and not too hot day for it! Kara and Joel were married out in Holland, one of my favorite cities with charm, I love the downtown area! We were also close to the beach and did some really fun shots out there as well! Here is a bit of a teaser gallery for you to enjoy in addition to my other wedding from last weekend!

The bride and groom dance for the first time...

Kara showed me this awesome alley in downtown Holland with this incredible gate. It was perfect!

Some moments from the reception...

Wow...I was loving this...

She was watching them dance, precious!

The sun was in a perfect spot for me here...

I guess you could say that this was my favorite location of the day!

Kara, you made the perfect bride!

The beach was definitely a good idea also...Close to the public beach, but more private.

I love the runner with the rose petals...beautiful!

Kylene & Derrick Bookwalter ~ 8.01.08~

Derrick and Kylene were married on Friday August 1st in a cute little church in Reed City. This was the first time I had been to Reed City, and what a cute town! There were so many old barns that I saw along the way and in the town that I was dying to stop at and take pictures! So many cool picture spots, so little time! However, we did have a gorgeous patch of wildflowers in front of the church that I was in seventh heaven over, I could have stayed right there all day! Here are some highlights from Derrick and Kylene's wedding day, they were so much fun to work with, and we had a great day. Perfect weather and lots of clouds in the sky, although the sun did have a way of peeking out a little too often for my perfect lighting conditions! Their reception was at the phenominal Tullymore, my first time there as well. Wow, it was even more awesome than I imagined, and absolutely huge! I'll have another opportunity to shoot there in just a couple of weeks at another wedding! Enjoy the preview!

I saw this little doll sitting in the window at the reception from across the room, I was so totally booking across the room to capture her before she hopped down!

The fountain in front of Tullymore...

The fountain again, with an old fashioned look here....I have fun with special effects and colorings...

And with our fun wedding party!

We had to do a shot with the clock, up in the landscape they go...

Derrick was an awesome sport with all of the pictures, not all grooms are so willing!

My assistant said these were the best cupcakes he's ever had in his entire life...darn it... I didn't have one!

The entrance to the "city of" Tullymore...

Instead of bubbles, everyone rang little silver bells...

We made a very special stop on the way to the reception, to lay some roses on the grave of Kylene's parents, it was a little emotional, but very touching.

These posts came in handy!

A special moment...

Here is one of my favorite shots from my wildflowers field!

Did I mention that aqua is my favorite color?

Kylene, I love this face, sorry, had to post it!

This is a rare moment when the guys weren't laughing...

Whoa, two in a row! I think we had to practice the serious look, one of them kept giggling!

Cool spot!

You ladies are so cute!

Thought I'd try a reflection image!

Someone was giving a great toast...

This is one of my favorite "signature" shots, you'll probably see it a few times!

Great first dance...

This gazebo was built as a memorial to Derrick's mom, so we also did some touching pictures here as well.

I couldn't have asked for a better shooting location! Right when we pulled into the church driveway, I knew I was so totally going directly to this field!! ( I was just hoping the bride would agree with me, fortunately she was very willing!)

Derrick and Kylene also decided to see eachother here for the first time, perfect...!

Waving at someone, love this shot!

Here he comes!

One of my favorite non-posed moments of the day...

I love the details...

Thank you again Kylene and Derrick, best wishes as you start your life together!

More from Ryan and Ana!

More from Ryan and Ana's wedding on July 26th, cutting the cake!

The First Dance...

Thank you to all of my Westphalia couples past and future who keep me coming back! I think I have four more there next year!!

After pictures, the wedding party went down to the local bowling alley for some fun, my assistant and I had fun just shooting everyone! Here's Ryan, not sure if this one was a strike or not?...

I love this little rose garden in the courtyard of the church...

More bowlers, does this really work?

Adorable cake!

Mom helping Ana with her final touches...

Here comes the bride...

Was that a strike Eric??

What an awesome group of friends!

Okay, this is me talking with ONE of my favorite groomsmen! I'm not sure what we were talking about here, but I think he was giving me a hard time about SOMETHING!!

I loved it when Grandma caught the bouquet!

Ana and the guys...

Ryan and the ladies...

Ana and her brothers, awww...

Newly married!!

I love the bridesmaid in the front right, I didn't realize it until I posted this image that she is winking at the camera! Love it!

Show some leg girls!

Look at all of those cute groomsmen! My job is so fun...

Wow, that's a big group!

I love doing this to candlelight...

I love the yellow flowers with the blue dresses...

Great job ladies!

Ana did two bouquet tosses, Taylor and Grandma both got to catch it! How lucky!?

Hold the line guys...Good job..

The kids came down the aisle like little pros...

Okay, I must admit, this whole blogger thing is quite a bit of work for me! I don't know how these other photographers keep up with this whole thing! Especially now that August has started, and I have not just one but TWO weddings almost every weekend, I don't know how I'm going to keep up! I may not be able to post right after every wedding, but will try to do so within a week or so after each wedding, thanks for your patience to all my brides and grooms and families!!

Ana and Ryan, I truly enjoyed your wedding day, thank you again, and Congratulations!
