Luc & Valerie Maxineau August 31st, 2008

Congratulations to Luc and Valerie who were married on Sunday last week, August 31st! It was so nice to have a Saturday off finally, and we celebrated my son's 12th Birthday on Saturday at Michigan's adventure. I found out that I"m no fun to go to an amusement park with, as I cannot go on any rides! (I'm highly clausterphobic, and getting worse with age!) I finally at the end of the day got on the speed racer track, and barely made it through that - wow they really strap you down for that ride, and your laying back so far, I could barely see to drive! Well, hopefully my kids enjoyed themselves! So instead I had Luc and Valerie's wedding on Sunday. That in itself was quite an experience! First of all, Valerie and Luc are French Canadian, and although they also speak English, the rest of the family and ceremony, including vows were in French! I am embarrassed to admit, that I actually majored in Spanish in college with a French minor, but since that was many, many, many.... years ago, and I did not continue my bilingual education, I could barely follow it, although I did pick up lots of words here and there! It was so fun however to hear it spoken all day, I thoroughly enjoy the accent of the French language. Valerie and Luc were such a fun couple to work with, and had me in stitches a few times throughout the day! We definitely ended August on a hot note, as it was about 90 degrees and not a cloud in the sky!

Valerie and Luc got married at Calvary's chapel, and we went to Frederick Meijer for pictures, as well as downtown, and their reception was held at the beautiful Amway, where we did lots more pictures! Below you will find just a small fraction of their day... The top image is their "second" introduction into their reception, as they changed clothing right after they cut the cake, and were then reintroduced..

Luc is dancing with his mom, I love the balcony in this ballroom, as it allows for looking down on my subjects...

These next couple shots got my "creative" juices flowing during the evening. I had this vision of a bride in this window, and Valerie was more than willing to be my subject! I love how the lampost's shadow looks huge on the wall! This one was without flash, as I was playing with the lighting, and the one below is with a flash... can't decide which one I like better....

Some images in the Amway, the chandeliers provide very golden lighting...

OMG, this had to be the best tasting cake I think I've ever had, it was beautiful on the outside as well! The filling had blueberries and strawberries throughout! Needless to say I was not able to stop at one bite on this one...

Luc's brother and his wife should have been on Dancing with the Stars!

At Frederick Meijer Gardens... it was challenging unfortunately with the full sun, and very little shade available. Thanks to the videographer who helped me hold my diffuser!

Luc on the rocks....

Calvary has one of my favorite stained glass windows...

Blue Bridge time...

Valerie's "main" wedding dress...

And all the details of course...

The furniture in Amway's hotel room was so perfect for me to lay everything out...

And this was Valerie's second dress which she changed into at the reception, all detailed in blue...how fun, not many bride's get to wear two dresses on their wedding day!

Reflection shots... my favorite!

The Amway has a lot of mirrors......

Valerie had blue hydrangeas in her bouquet, again, one of my favorite bouquet flowers...

Luc did a lot of singing to his new bride throughout the day, here at the reception, and as she walked down the aisle with her parents, it was beautiful...

Valerie, dancing with her dad...

Valerie and Luc on their second dance together...

Rocking out with the crowd...

Check out that sky...not a cloud in it...!

The room was incredible, this is the first time I have done a reception here, incredible room...

Valerie and Luc's grand entrance into the reception...

The vows and exchange of rings... all in french of course!

The ceremony included a special dance by this young woman....

Finishing her makeup...

This shot had me laughing, it was so cute, upstairs in the Amway, this little sitting room...

Fortunately the traffic wasn't too heavy on Sunday, I think we had to move over for a few cars, the nerve of them actually wanting to get past us!!

They look so happy!

Valerie and Luc did a special dance for eachother after they were first announced and introduced...

Cutting that delicious cake...

Valerie's garter, displayed on the bedpost...

And her necklace, which wouldn't cooperate hanging on the bedpost, so instead it's laying on a book displaying images from Frederick Meijer Garden! Very pretty book by the way...

This time I posted the grooms shoes! I like it!

More singing at the ceremony...

Valerie and Luc had not one but TWO limos, wow! This was a shot of the interior of one of them, very nice....

And one last shot of the rings........... Hope you had a wonderful time on your honeymoon, and thank you for a wonderful time at your wedding! The flowers we brought home lasted for over a week!
